Aram Kim portrait

Korean-American violinist Aram Kim began her violin studies at the age of six. She is an alumna of the Juilliard Pre-College Division, where she studied with Dr. Ann Setzer and her assistant Khullip Jeung and served as concertmaster of the orchestra. Kim holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School and is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree in the studio of Hyo Kang.

Kim has received top prizes in numerous competitions in the Manhattan area and was a Merit Award recipient at the 2019 Blount Slawson Young Artist Competition. She was a finalist alternate in the 2019 Lillian & Maurice Barbach J.S. Bach Competition and a semifinalist in the 2019 Thomas & Evon Cooper International Violin Competition. In 2020, she was recognized as a National YoungArts Winner and was featured on NPR’s From the Top as a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Most recently, she was invited to participate in the 2025 William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition and the Dallas International Violin Competition.

As a soloist, Kim has appeared with orchestras in venues including Carnegie Hall, the DiMenna Center, and the historic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. She has also performed at Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, and Chelsea Factory, among other notable venues. Kim has played in masterclasses for James Ehnes, Midori Gotō, Alex Kerr, as well as members of the Juilliard String Quartet and Emerson String Quartet. An avid chamber musician, she has collaborated with artists such as Josef Špaček, Jaime Laredo, Sharon Robinson, and Wei-Yang Andy Lin.

Kim has been invited to international festivals including the Narnia Festival in Italy, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Meadowmount School of Music, where she has served as a teaching assistant in the studio of Ann Setzer since 2021. A passionate advocate for equal access to music education, Kim has extensive teaching experience working with students of all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced pre-college and semi-professional musicians.
